For over twenty-five years Faith Kitchen has responded to Jesus’ command to “Feed my sheep” (John 21:17). We operate Monday through Saturday from 11:30am to 12:30pm. Presently, 22 faith communities support the Faith Kitchen. Housed in Trinity Lutheran Church, we serve nutritious meals provided by local churches and civic groups, free of charge, to all who come to eat. We served 40,640 meals in 2015!
The Faith Kitchen also helps clients network with social service agencies, find jobs and housing, and access the mental and physical healthcare systems. The Zufall Health Center van often parks outside our door, providing free or low cost medical and dental care. Other charities such as Howard's Mission and Grandmother's Cupboard also coordinate with us to provide free clothing and other basics for good life and health. The kitchen and our clients constantly benefit from in kind donations by individuals, groups and businesses.
The Faith Kitchen provides our clients with a safe place for conversation and assistance; we also provide easy referrals to Edna’s Haven drop in center, sponsored by the Mental Health Association and Trinity Lutheran Church (Monday – Friday 12:30-4:00 pm). Faith Kitchen and Edna’s Haven share the same space so clients can come for lunch and then receive help from a variety of resources.
