"God's Work. Our Hands"
"God's work. Our hands." was an opportunity to participate with with many congregations who are part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), as one church on September 11th. This year our service also marked the 15th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States. To remember that dark day in our country's history, some of our projects were built around our first responders in the area. We made cookies and thank you cards that went out to our local police and firehouse. We also made a meal to be served in the Faith Kitchen, made pot holders, put together quilts for Lutheran World Relief, packed school supplies collected throughout the summer for a local school, cleaned the pews and piano in our sanctuary, painted the Senior High Youth room, cleaned other areas of the church, planted bulbs, weeded and cleaned up the local cemetery, prepared for our church picnic, etc.
After our time of service, we met at Germania park for our annual Energizer Sunday picnic for fellowship.
Thank you to all who participated, remembered those who lost their lives, recognized our first responders, and made our community a better place to be.
